I'm loving Japanese anime Sangatsu no Lion, the 'slice of life' anime about orphaned Rei the shogi player. The artwork is incredible, but I think it excelled itself in this sequence, where the tsunami like patterns twisted and rolled, expressing intense concentration and emotion in the heat of the game! The anime uses many, many different styles of illustration to convey and pinpoint emotion - from grainy crayon sketches to expressive splashy watercolour. Watch it, you'll love it!
